The
prologue to this video is set in Death Valley, California, where
Patricia Walden performs some remarkable yoga postures. The rest
of the video, performed in the studio, is clearly for mere mortals.
All the positions she demonstrates are readily attainable, with
a little practise. Patricia
Walden gives detailed explanations of the poses, and some advice
that could be extended to many yoga videos: "You'll be hearing
a lot of information, don't feel that you need to understand it
all at once. As you continue to practise, your body will understand
more".
After
10 minutes seated, Patricia Walden demonstrates a 30 minute sequence
of standing poses, repeating each one; with triangle, side bend
and warrior leading into a seres of standing forward bends and leg
stretches. Downward dog and seated forward bends are followed by
supported shoulder stand and 10 minutes of relaxation to complete
the video. The postures are beautifully performed and explained.
The explanation is, perhaps too thorough and it would be
good to be able to select a setting that skips it. Each pose is
marked as an individual track, so the "Forward" button
on the video controller positions you ready to start the next.
